honestly at this point the emerging pattern in su is a little distressing

like we get characters like sugilite and bismuth and garnet and amethyst, who r all “rash” and “powerful” and “angry”

and then we get characters like lapis and pearl and peridot who r all like,,,,petite and femme and not a threat 2 anyone ! uvu

and like. the only characters rly breaking this pattern r either super side characters or homeworld gems

Something else I just noticed that seems a bit unfortunate in implications as well…

Sugilite, Garnet, Bismuth, Jasper… all large and angry… all voiced by (as far as my imagesearches seem to show) darker-skinned black women.

thats what this post was about, that often in su black coded characters r depicted as aggressive brutes who go too far whereas other characters get 2 be pretty and intelligent and tragic characters who overcome adversity~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

this. this is the problem that has been bugging me about the show for AGES and i haven’t been able to articulate it. this is what i dont like about su. this is what keeps me from actually enjoying the show as much i should. it’s fucking racist. that’s the problem.
