Being a Knight of Light is tiring. As in, please get me a blanket and just let me sleep damn it, tiring. Not that a Knight of Light would ever actually say that, though at times they might think that. No, your Knight of Light is probably just going to look you in the eye and say, “You know what fuck it if you wanna do it let’s do it I don’t care anymore.”
A Knight of Light really just wants to be your Knight Light during dark times, or hell, even during bright ones. They just want to be important, or at least important for the people they care about. They want to be important to those who matter the most in their eyes. Who cares if others don’t find you important, as long as those who make such big impacts on their lives’ find them important. Although, yeah, being important or famous to a large amount of people would be cool but holy shit is that scary why are all of you looking at me? Because let’s be honest here, being famous or important is a lot of work, and an average Knight of Light is going to feel like they already have enough on their plate, and if you try to add something more, in this case, social status and the like, we’ll then jee whiz there’s gonna be food on the table. Even if they have room on the metaphorical plate, they probably don’t want anymore in fear of it spilling over.
Do not, I repeat, do not get your Knight of Light started on a topic they love if you do not want it to be the only thing they talk about for the next two hours, and god, they’ll think about it for the rest of the day. Being a Knight of Light means that you want to know everything, but honestly? You only ever learn about the things you really care about, which honestly, isn’t even a bad thing. Maybe you just don’t have time, or deep down you don’t want to know everything, but you think it’d be rad. Or maybe you do want to know everything about anything, but only ever have time or attention for your interests or hobbies, or really weird, random facts. For example, I can totally tell you the plot of Pandora Hearts in about fifteen minutes (trust me that’s a feat), but ask me something basic like “how does the American voting system work”, to me, an American that has learned that in school time and time again, and I’ll go deadpan. Besides, isn’t it good to excel at certain things? Why keep all of that unnecessary information when I could retain facts I and those around me actually care about?
A Knight of Light has some serious shit going down in their head. I don’t think there’s one out there that wouldn’t admit that to themselves. They’ll think that they need to be the leader, because being the leader is the hard job, the job that requires all of the decision making, the job that means life or death for your teammates, the job that’ll take the hardest toll on someone. They don’t want their friends to have that. No, they’ll take the job for themselves, and say something stupid so that their friends don’t think that they’re worrying again.
Because, really, when doesn’t a Knight of Light worry? They worry constantly, sometimes getting on the edge of paranoid. No, I can’t say that, they’ll think I’m stupid. But if I do that, they’ll all see that I’m the weakest one here. Shit, no, that came out wrong and now they’re all mad at me. How do we know we can trust them? They could be here to fuck everything up! No, they can’t do that, they’ll get hurt, it’s your fault if they get hurt. However, a Knight of Light would never want their friends to worry about them. No, they don’t need to be worried over. Honestly, just leave them alone for an hour to cool down, or chat with them and take their mind of things, and they’ll probably be fine. Don’t be a dick, okay? Just don’t be a dick to your Knight of Light; they’re trying their best.
Look, being a Knight of Light is hard, but it can also be fun. As a Knight of Light you might have a tendency to look at things in extremes. Either naively optimistic, or depressingly pessimistic. You just have to learn to see things from an optimistic view, or even a “realist” perspective. Don’t think “aw my favorite show isn’t coming back for another three weeks this sucks,” think “now I can write a shit ton of fanfiction and learn things about it this is great.” That sort of thought process. Learn to find balance between the two.
This is what a Knight of Light needs to learn.
But it isn’t too hard. After all.
We do love to learn.
